When two of Ontario’s largest public health units merged, they needed more than a new name—they needed a brand that could unite diverse communities and signal a bold, shared future.

Trajectory partnered with Haliburton Kawartha Pine Ridge District Health Unit and Peterborough Public Health to guide the process from discovery to launch: research, engagement, naming, design, and implementation.

The outcome: Lakelands Public Health.

The name and identity program for Lakelands Public Health involved ongoing engagement with staff and the public, including several Indigenous communities. The design is inspired by the vast geography and diverse locales the organization now embraces. Its identity reflects the vast geography it serves and draws inspiration from Indigenous traditions. The circular sun/moon form symbolizes interconnected mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being—placing the individual at the heart of community and care.

We supported the September 2025 launch with a comprehensive identity system, brand guidelines, video, animation, and a full suite of resources to help the organization step confidently into its next chapter.

“From initial discovery and strategy to naming, visual design, and full implementation,” Dr. Thomas Piggott, Medical Officer of Health and CEO, credits Trajectory’s contribution, “with precision, creativity, and a deep understanding of our two merged organization’s values and future direction.“
